Mantis Security ensures that all applicants are responsible, reliable, drug-free, un-corrupt individuals with no criminal background. This procedure provides a complete and comprehensive background check. A personal interview also ensures that the apllicant is capable of dealing with pressurised situations and has an intuitive attitude towards implementing the correct actions when needed. A prerequisite to mantis Securitys superior service starts with a comprehensive and concise training course. All security personnel are rigorously trained by an Accredited Training School and are registered with the Security officers Board.

At Mantis Security we are particularly aware that the success of a service provider relies not only on attracting quality personnel, but also on selecting Staff best suited to each Clients' individual needs. Only suitable candidates are recruited for training as Security Officers. Recruiter must have a minimum scholastic qualification and are required to be able to converse in English and at least one other official language. This rigorous selection process includes an aptitude and literacy test, screening for any criminal convictions, comprehensive reference checking and a panel interview with representatives from our Operations, Human Resources and Training Departments.


Initial training is conducted at registered training centres in terms of the Security Officers Act and complies fully with training standards prescribed by the Security Officers Interim Board (SOIB)

Continuous on-the-job training of all Mantis Security personnel takes place both on site and at our Head Office.

On-site training is affected on a daily basis by Supervisors and Management alike in order to ensure a consistently high standard of personnel on duty

Mantis Security has identified the need for "in-house" training sessions as well. Being a service orientated business, we are committed to providing our Clients' with the best attention always. Our Managers, Supervisors, Controllers and Security Officers are trained on an ongoing basis in all fields and aspects pertaining to both security and service provision.



Mantis Security firmly believes that a fair but strict disciplinary code ensures that all employees are highly disciplined, respectful and well-mannered. Good attitude and commitment to work duties is as also affected.

A disciplinary code of conduct has been drawn up for the company by s specialist labour relations consultant, which ensures that all disciplinary hearings and labour related matters are handled in a fair and non-biased manner.

Discipline is the backbone in a military or semi-military environment such as ours.





Mantis Security is committed to ensure that those security officers who are assigned to our Clients' to provide security are capable of performing to the highest level. As an incentive towards excellence, Staff are afforded the opportunity for personal advancement based on their performance within the company. Our Security Officers' bonus and increases are directly related to the favourable reports from various Clients that he serves.

We recognise people as our major asset, therefore caring for our people is an integral part of the Mantis Culture. Our pricing structure enables us to afford wages to our staff that are well above industry standards as well as the statutory minimum of the Wage Determination Act.




Mantis Security is proud to say that we have a Human Recourses Department in place that provides adequate support to all Staff Members. Management acknowledges the rights of employees and the necessity for fair employment practices. Employee representative committees have been established to ensure open and constructive communication between all levels of Staff and these have proved to be an extremely valuable forum for briefing, consultation and problem solving.
